Architecture of the Residential complex

At the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, the site of the modern building was home to the house of the famous university professor, surgeon V. I. Kuzmin, which was destroyed in 1941. After the war, in 1947, a monumental multi-apartment residential building for the Ministry of Defense of the USSR was erected on its site, designed by L. V. Rudnev, V. E. Assa, and V. O. Muntz. The facade, with its expressive arched windows on the ground floor, pilasters, and spires around the roof perimeter, is a striking example of Stalinist Empire style and is awe-inspiring.

The 6-story complex includes three entrances with respectable lobbies. There are a total of 64 apartments in the building with ceiling heights ranging from 3.2 to 3.6 meters. Some living spaces have preserved original stucco work. From the upper floors, there are rare and beautiful views of the city. The building is a historical monument and is protected by the state.
